  1. What We Offer

Online Platform

A shared tool for managing contributions, expenses, and regranting with full transparency

A transparent financial and community management tool

Open Collective is a digital platform that enables hosted initiatives and philanthropic partners to raise, manage, and distribute funds with full transparency. Each group or fund hosted by Open Collective Europe receives its own public page, equipped with tools to:

  • Collect financial contributions: Accept donations and sponsorships via credit card, PayPal, or bank transfer.

  • Manage expenses and disbursements: Submit, approve, and reimburse expenses directly through the platform.

  • Display a transparent budget: All income and expenditures are visible in real-time, enhancing trust and accountability.

  • Engage with the community: Post updates, host events, and share progress with supporters.

This integrated approach simplifies financial administration and fosters a collaborative environment for your initiative or fund.

Support for Philanthropic Regranting

Beyond grassroots initiatives, the platform is also a powerful tool for foundations and funders. Through Open Collective, OCE can set up dedicated online funds to:

  • Receive donations or grants earmarked for specific causes or regions

  • Disburse grants to multiple projects (including informal or unincorporated groups) in a streamlined, transparent manner

  • Enable funders and the public to track how resources are used

Each fund has its own profile page, budget, and update feed, just like a Collective. This makes it easy for regranting partners to communicate their goals, track disbursements, and meet reporting obligations with minimal overhead.

Why transparency matters

Transparency is a cornerstone of the Open Collective platform. By making financial information publicly accessible, initiatives and funders can:

  • Build credibility: Demonstrate responsible fund management to donors and stakeholders

  • Simplify reporting: Funders can directly monitor how their resources are allocated

  • Enhance collaboration: Encourage trust and coordination between grantees and grantmakers

Financial transactions are public, but personal details like names and email addresses are only visible to authorized admins.

Key Features

  • Real-time budget tracking

  • Integrated expense and payout tools

  • Custom contribution tiers and fundraising campaigns

  • Event management tools

  • Automated monthly financial summaries
