Who Can Apply to Be Hosted by Open Collective Europe?

Open Collective Europe (OCE) welcomes initiatives from around the world that align with our mission and values. Whether you're a grassroots movement, a community project, or an open-source endeavor, if your activities aim to create a positive social impact, you're encouraged to apply.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for fiscal hosting by OCE, your initiative must:

  • Align with OCE's mission and impact areas: Your activities should be charitable and aimed at benefiting the public.

  • Be non-profit in nature: While you can charge membership fees or organize paid activities, profits should not be distributed to members.

  • Lack a separate legal entity: Initiatives with their own legal status (e.g., registered NGOs) are not eligible. However, such entities can launch a Fund with OCE for specific programs.

  • Have at least two administrators: Your collective must have a minimum of two team members with real names to manage the collective.

  • Maintain appropriate content standards: Content promoting violence, hate speech, pornography, or any other material deemed inappropriate or offensive is not permitted.

🌍 Global Reach

While based in Europe, OCE supports initiatives globally. Your project's location does not restrict your eligibility, provided you meet the criteria outlined above.

❌ Not Required

OCE aims to lower barriers for impactful initiatives. Therefore, we do not require:

  • Application fees

  • A minimum budget balance

  • A minimum annual fundraising amount

  • A fixed duration of commitment

  • Complex reporting requirements (an annual update on your collective page suffices)

📄 Important Considerations

  • Fund Management: Funds raised under OCE's umbrella become part of the foundation's structure. If you decide to leave OCE or close your account, remaining funds must be disbursed to the community or transferred to other associations.

  • Compliance: OCE assesses potential compliance risks associated with initiatives, including alignment with legal frameworks and avoidance of activities that could be linked to terrorism or extremism financing.
