# Giving from the United States

Check the appropriate donation route before sending funds.

OCE works with Myriad USA on eligible donations supporting hosted initiatives. This route is separate from a direct contribution to a collective’s Open Collective page.

## Before making a donation

[Contact OCE](/oceurope/about-1/contact-us.md) with the collective’s name and the intended donation. We can confirm the route and reference to use. Do not assume that a payment made through another route can be changed afterwards.

Myriad USA publishes its [current giving instructions](https://myriadusa.org/waystogive/). Use them together with the instructions confirmed for your intended initiative.

## Tax documentation

The route for eligible U.S. tax-deductible donations is through Myriad USA. Any deduction remains subject to the donor's tax circumstances and applicable rules; U.S. citizenship or sending money from a U.S. account does not by itself establish eligibility. Eligibility for a U.S. tax receipt depends on the donation route and its conditions. A direct donation to OCE should not be presented as automatically tax-deductible. For Europe, tax-deductible giving arrangements are considered exceptionally, on request, for substantial donations. Contact OCE before donating so that the relevant country, amount and possible route can be assessed. This is not a general promise of European tax deductibility.

If the donor is a U.S. private foundation, also read [Equivalency Determination](/oceurope/how-it-works/equivalency-determination-certificate.md). Ask OCE to check which route applies.
