# Fundraise outside Open Collective

Check how funds will reach your collective before opening another campaign.

Another fundraising platform may not identify your collective automatically or support the same arrangements as Open Collective.

## Check with OCE first

Before launching a campaign, share:

* the platform and campaign link;
* the collective that should receive the funds;
* who will receive the payout and in which currency;
* the expected transfer timetable and any reporting conditions.

OCE needs to confirm that the funds can be received and attributed correctly. Do not select an organisation just because its name resembles OCE’s: several independent hosts use Open Collective.

## Keep a clear trail

Keep the campaign record, payout statement and transfer reference. Send any missing allocation information privately to OCE. A payment cannot be added to the intended budget until its destination has been established.

No general tax treatment should be inferred from a platform’s name or settings. For a U.S. donation route, read [giving from the United States](/oceurope/how-it-works/tax-deductible-giving-for-u.s.-donors.md).
